Crude price vs petrol and diesel history
Annual Brent crude averages in USD per barrel compared with AIP national average petrol and diesel terminal-gate prices in Australian cents per litre.
Brent averaged US$81.14/bbl. In 2024, Brent again averaged about US$81.43/bbl, but petrol TGP was 171.8 c/L.
This AIP national TGP series does not show sub-$1/L petrol when Brent averages around US$80/bbl. The cheaper years line up with lower crude and different tax, freight, and margin settings.
