Crude price vs petrol and diesel history
Annual Brent crude averages converted to AUD per barrel, compared with AIP national average petrol and diesel terminal-gate prices in Australian cents per litre.
Brent averaged US$81.14/bbl and petrol TGP was 118.5 c/L. In 2024, Brent was again about US$81.43/bbl, but that converted to A$123.62/bbl and petrol TGP was 171.8 c/L.
This AIP national TGP series does not show sub-$1/L petrol when Brent averages around US$80/bbl. In Australian dollars, the comparable-crude years are further apart once exchange rates are included.
